OUR BEGINNINGS to our future
Founded in 2003, Zhaoli Dance School (ZDS) is a premier Chinese dance school and the first of its kind in Calgary offering Chinese classical dance, Chinese folk/ethnic dance, ballet, jazz and Latin dance. The school is dedicated to promoting and preserving the best of Chinese culture and dance heritage by developing the next generation artists of different ages, backgrounds, and abilities through Chinese dance and music.
Besides, having a prominent presence in the Calgary Chinese community, we are proud to be an active participant in various multi-cultural and artistic performances throughout the City of Calgary. In 2017, ZDS became a member of the “Global Windows of Chinese Arts and Cultures Association” and was invited to participate in their 2018 Chinese New Year Gala located in Sydney, Australia.
Students of Zhaoli Dance School have accomplished countless of achievements over the years, competing in both regional and international dance competitions such as 'Dance Power', 'Champion Dance', 'Cultures of China - Overseas Chinese Dance Competition' in Shenzhen, China and 'Taoli World Dance Competition' in Los Angeles, USA.

- Selected dances “Wake” (2014) and “Rouged Lips” (2016) won the Most Unique Award and the New Star Award in the 'Cultures of China - Overseas Chinese Dance Competition' located in Shenzhen, China.
- In the finals of the 'International Taoli World Cup Dance Competition' held in Los Angeles of August 2018, one of our soloists performing "Missing You" won the Top Ten Elite Platinum Award, Dedication Spirit Award, and Outstanding Original Choreography Award. "The Promise of Wind", "A Spring Stroll", and “The Singing Wind" won the Platinum Award. The school was also awarded with the “Best Instructor Award”.
Zhaoli Dance School will continue to further advance itself to help produce students that gain confidence and poise, along with the mind to allow the students to challenge their limit and reach their full potential.
